Intro

Tell us who you are and what kind of films/videos you create.

Hi, I’m Jonathan Del Gatto, founder and EP of Brighter, a Los Angeles-based video production studio focused on DTC advertising. We create everything from quick-turn performance spots to award-winning hero campaigns that help brands look great and perform even better.

Your spark

What first got you into filmmaking or video production?

II’ve always loved telling stories. As a kid, it was through music. As I got older, it became video. I was lucky to start in TV commercials before it was something filmmakers were chasing, which meant I got to be part of some early, influential work that shaped where we are today.

The craft

What’s one thing you focus on most when telling a story on screen?

Because I work in advertising, the brand and its story sit at the center of everything I do. My focus is always on believability. If the performance feels real, the audience leans in. People can smell fake a mile away.

A recent win

Tell us about a project you’re especially proud of.

Our Spot Pet “Fur Baby” campaign won a Gold dotCOMM Award this year. It’s funny, warm, and true to the bond between people and their pets, and it’s performed like crazy. That blend of heart and conversion is exactly what we aim for.

Behind the scenes

What’s one tool, trick, or habit that makes your workflow easier?

I’m a weirdo who loves structure and systems. Using pre-built project pipelines, production packages, and a well-maintained CRM keeps our projects running smoothly so we can focus on what actually matters: the creative.

Looking ahead

Where do you see the future of filmmaking heading in the next 2–3 years?

I don’t know much about “filmmaking,” but in marketing, I see a stronger push toward more organic, story-first content. Brands are finally leaning into their social channels to tell longer, more nuanced stories that connect beyond the ad. That’s where the real opportunity is.
